Rabbi Androphy earned his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Brandeis University, where he majored in economics.  Upon his return from six months’ traveling through Western and Eastern Europe and Israel, he decided to study for the rabbinate. He enrolled at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, from which he received his M.A. and rabbinical ordination.

During his sabbatical in 2007-2008, Rabbi Androphy received the prestigious Daniel Jeremy Cohen Fellowship at Harvard University, an award given to only one rabbi per year.
